The Kintail team travelled from its base to help the rescue on the Skye Cuillin

Three mountain rescue teams worked through the night to bring to safety an injured woman who fell on a ridge on the Isle of Skye.

Members of Kintail Mountain Rescue Team were asked by colleagues from the Skye team to help with the rescue on the Cuillin range.

Police Scotland alerted the team about 5pm to assist them with the rescue of the woman, who had fallen about 1pm while with a group near the summit of Sgurr an Fheadain. She suffered a serious leg injury in the fall.

A team spokesperson said: “With very poor conditions a Coastguard helicopter was unable to approach the scene, leaving Skye MRT to lower then carry the casualty back out.

“Kintail members met the Skye team just after they had got out of Coire a Tairneilear and were soon joined by members of the RAF MRT from Lossiemouth.

“The casualty was met at the roadside by an ambulance shortly after 10pm.”
