A walker has died after being found unconscious on a Lake District hillside.

Rescuers were unable to revive the elderly man, who was walking alone, near Low Sweden Bridge north of Ambleside.

Members of Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team were called out about 2pm on Monday to the site near Nook End Farm, where the walker was reported to be unconscious and unresponsive.

The rescue team brought the man’s body back to Ambleside. The three-hour operation involved 14 volunteers from Langdale Ambleside MRT.
