A new multi-activity shoe from outdoor experts Berghaus has undergone more than 1,000 hours of on-the-hill testing.

The Explorer Active GTX incorporates the fit and comfort of the brand’s Explorer boots in a lightweight package.

Berghaus said the shoes had received very positive feedback after extensive trials by professional testers, athletes and staff, “The Explorer Active GTX shoes have undergone over 1,000 hours of rigorous on-the-hill testing to ensure they deliver the same ‘out of the box’ comfort and performance as Berghaus’s classic Explorer boots,” it said.

“The Explorer Active GTX shoes are built on proven lasts and are loaded with technology and features, including: Gore-Tex Extended Comfort waterproof lining; a Vibram XS Trek Opti-Stud outsole for outstanding grip; a shock absorbing EVA midsole; Ortholite footbeds with cushioning, breathability and anti-microbial performance; and highly durable Coats drybond gtx threads in the upper.”

The shoes, available in men’s and women’s versions, tip the scales at 858g for a typical men’s pair and will retail for £110 at selected outdoor stores and online.
