A walker was rescued from a Lake District fellside after falling and injuring herself.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 12.30pm on Saturday when the woman, in her 60s fell near Walna Scar Pass.

A team spokesperson said: “The lady was treated for an ankle injury by team members before being stretchered from the fell and taken to the team’s base in Coniston by Land Rover ambulance.

“She was transferred to a North West Ambulance Service vehicle and taken to Furness General Hospital Barrow in Furness.”

The rescue involved 15 volunteers from Coniston MRT.
