A man has died after collapsing while walking with his family in the Peak District.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team was called out to aid the walker on Curbar Edge at 12.25pm on Wednesday.

A team spokesperson said: “Despite full resuscitation efforts by team members and the crew of the Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, the male sadly could not be revived.

“Team members remained to support the family and liaise with the local police. The gentleman was then carried down to the road by team members.”

About three hours later, team members were in action again when a young woman was reported to be suffering breathing problems in Grindsbrook Clough on the southern edge of Kinder Scout.

Members of Buxton MRT joined Edale colleagues and the Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance again joined the operation.

The air ambulance crew requested the help of the mountain rescuers to help get the woman, who was having a severe asthma attack, to the aircraft.

The Edale MRT spokesperson said: “Once transferred by team members to the helicopter, she was given an emergency anaesthetic before being flown to the Northern General hospital in Sheffield.”
