A walker was stretchered from a Lakeland fell after injuring herself.

The 56-year-old from Australia was walking with her husband on a path above Newlands Hause, overlooking Buttermere, when she slipped and hurt her ankle.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Monday and went to the walker’s aid.

A team spokesperson said: “The team attended to her injuries, and stretchered her to the waiting ambulance at Newlands Hause.”

The rescue involved 24 volunteers from Cockermouth MRT.
