A walker was airlifted from a Lake District mountain after injuring herself when she fell.

The 60-year-old was coming down Whiteless Breast above Buttermere with her husband on Thursday when she injured her arm in the incident.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out and the North West Air Ambulance also flew to the scene from its Blackpool base, and was able to land near the injured walker.

A Cockermouth MRT spokesperson said: “The helicopter crew treated the casualty as team members were arriving and she was flown to Furness General Hospital for further treatment.”

The rescue involved 19 volunteers from Cockermouth MRT.
