KT Tunstall will be headline performer on the Saturday

Liverpool Britpop favourites Cast and Scottish solo singer KT Tunstall will be the headline music acts at this year’s Keswick Mountain Festival.

Festival organisers announced the line-up for the lakeside venue in June, along with two major sponsors.

Outdoor brand Salomon and Yorkshire brewers Timothy Taylor will also be supporting the festival, tickets for which will go on sale in a few days’ time.

Edinburgh-born Tunstall is best known for hits such as Suddenly I See, Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. She will provide the finale for the festival’s music schedule on Saturday 10 June, with Cast top of the bill on the Friday. Festival regulars the Peatbog Faeries will support the Liverpool band.

Nicola Meadley, Keswick Mountain Festival director, said: “We have been hoping to persuade KT Tunstall to perform at Keswick Mountain Festival for some time now, so are really delighted that she will be joining us this year.
“KT is sure to bring the live music programme to a close in spectacular fashion on the Saturday, while Friday night is shaping up to be brilliant too. We already know that the KMF visitors dancing along with the Peatbog Faeries creates a fantastic party atmosphere, and following that with Cast will be superb.

“It’s going to be a great weekend of live music for the whole family.”

KT Tunstall made her debut with the album Eye to the Telescope in 2004. Her music has been a regular fixture in the charts and she has won numerous awards.

Cast formed in Liverpool and became one of the top acts during the Britpop era of the 1990s. After releasing a succession chart singles and albums between 1995 and 1999, the band split in 2001. Cast reformed in 2010 and have since toured regularly, playing a mixture of new material and classic tracks.

The Peatbog Faeries first performed at the festival in 2014. Returning for their traditional appearance, they promise to get visitors dancing with another high-tempo folk set.

Festival partner Salomon will again sponsor the festival’s trail races, run over distances of 5km, 10 km, 25 km and 50 km. The company will also sponsor the festival’s hike programme and will work with organisers to extend the opportunities for visitors to enjoy guided walks at all levels.

The KMF Salomon Trail Races have grown significantly in recent years and competitor capacity has again increased for 2017. Organisers said the festival team and Salomon are also exploring other ways to enhance the events for both runners and spectators.

Keighley, West Yorkshire-based Timothy Taylor is the official bar sponsor for Keswick Mountain Festival. In 2016, the brewer brought its ale Landlord to the event, along with Boltmaker, the Camra champion beer of Britain 2014, and a 10th KMF birthday special brew. Following feedback after last year’s festival, KMF will double bar capacity and bar staff numbers in the festival village for 2017 and Timothy Taylor’s Mountain Hut Bar will return. There will also be a Timothy Taylor’s Lakeside Bar and the new Garden Bar. In the lead up to the event, the KMF team and Timothy Taylor will select a variety of cask ales. Organisers said they have put plans in place to ensure that the pumps can meet demand at all times

“Our beer appeals to consumers who work hard and play hard and want the most out of life, which seems to be exactly the mantra of the people who attend Keswick Mountain Festival.”

Tickets for Keswick Mountain Festival events go on sale on Thursday 12 January. The festival will run from 8-11 June.
