A walker has died after falling 45m (150ft) in Langdale, in the Lake District.
The man was with three companions when he fell from Jack’s Rake on Pavey Ark, overlooking Stickle Tarn. His friends raised the alarm at about 10.55am yesterday, Wednesday.
Members of the Langdale-Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team, a helicopter from RAF Boulmer and police all went to the aid of the man. A spokesman for Cumbria Constabulary said they were unable to save the man who died at the location.
The walker has not yet been named by police.
Jack’s Rake is a grade-one scramble with little exposure except for one crux move where there is a severe drop.
