A man has died after falling while walking on the Glen Coe mountains.

Cameron Steel, 35, of Glasgow, was one of two men on a route on Bidean nam Bian when he fell on Saturday afternoon.

Police were alerted about 3.35pm and Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team members were joined by a Coastguard helicopter at the scene.

Police Scotland said Mr Steel died on the mountain. His body was recovered by the search and rescue helicopter.

A police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“As with all sudden deaths, a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”

At 1,150m (3,773ft), the munro Bidean nam Bian is the highest mountain in Argyll.
