A walker has died after falling on Wales’s highest mountain.

North Wales Police received several calls from people on the Pyg Track on Snowdon on Wednesday who had seen the walker fall a significant distance.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 1.25pm and the Caernarfon Coastguard helicopter airlifted team members to Pant y Lluwchfa above Glaslyn.

A Llanberis MRT spokesperson said: “On arrival at scene, it was found that the walker had not survived their injuries and the team carried out the task of gathering evidence and retrieval on the steep ground under the Trinity Face.

“All the team would like to pass on their sincere condolences to the family of our fellow hillwalker.

“We’d also like to thank Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team as always for their support with this incident too.”
