Two walkers safe after airlift from The Cobbler

Two men were airlifted from a Scottish mountain last night.Members of the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team found the men on the side of The Cobbler, near Arrochar, in the Southern Highlands.The Cobbler A Royal Navy Sea King helicopter, which had been involved in the search for the pair, winched them to safety.

Police name Snowdon death-fall boy

North Wales Police have named the 11-year-old boy who died on Snowdon.Liam Costello of Woolton, Liverpool was ridge walking with his father, also called Liam, when he slipped and fell from Crib y Ddysgl on the Snowdon horseshoe.Liam suffered serious head injuries in the 60m fall and was stretchered off the mountain by members of Llanberis and Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Teams to an RAF helicopter.

A man is in a critical condition after a fall in a Lancashire quarry.Christopher Walsh, of Liverpool, fell 25m (82ft) to the bottom of Anglezarke Quarry, at Rivington between Chorley and Horwich.
