Organisers of a mountain film festival are urging would-be Alastair Lees to get their entries in before the deadline next week.

The Sheffield Adventure Film Festival kicks off in the first week of March, but film-makers will need to get their works in by 1 December.

Organiser Matt Heason is putting on a show of the best of last year’s festival to whet enthusiasts’ appetite on 6 December, with a repeat in February.

Heason, himself a climber, said: “Shaff is about showing the best adventure films, new and old, from around the world.

“They may be sport-based, environment-focused, humorous, none of the above, all three or something entirely different, but they must show adventure.

“If you have a film that that meets these criteria we are very interested in hearing from you. ShAFF works best with 15 to 20 minute films. If you have a short, or festival edit of your film we would be interested in this. However we also screen full length features.”

He added: “Shaff’s about showing the best adventure films and animation from around the world.  Shaff takes you from the endurance extremes of big-wall free-climbing and cross-continental cycling via the awe-inspiring skill of free-style snowsports, BMXers and parcours runners to the sublime beauty of Afghanistan’s war-torn wilderness and beyond to the ridiculousness of ski-jumping into an Alpine paddling pool.”

The films will be shown at the 1930s art-house Showroom cinema in Sheffield. Details are on the Shaff website.
