'The three had bitten of more than they could chew'

A mountain rescue team was called to three sheepish adventurers stuck on a crag early today.

Members of the Edale Mountain Rescue Team were alerted by a local farmer who asked if the volunteers could rescue three of his animals stranded on Millstone Edge near Hathersage.

A spokesperson for the team said: “The three had bitten of more than they could chew when they descended on to a ledge to feed.

“Team members were quite keen to prevent any woolly jumpers ending in a heap at the bottom of the crag.”

Ten Edale MRT members attended the incident at 7am today, Sunday and the three animals were safely lowered to the ground before moving on to pastures new.
