A walker was stretchered from a Lakeland fell after falling and suffering a suspected broken ankle.

The 61-year-old woman from Oxfordshire was on Scale Knott today when the accident happened.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 3.50pm and 20 volunteer members took part in the rescue on the 338m (1,109ft) fell, west of Crummock Water.

A spokesperson for the team said: “She was treated at the scene, stretchered down to a team Land Rover and taken to an ambulance at Kirkgate Farm, Loweswater.”
