Mountain rescuers went to the injured woman's aid

A woman was rescued from a Cumbrian hillside after injuring herself in a slip.

The 73-year-old slipped on frozen turf while walking near Staveley.

Members of Kendal Mountain Rescue Team were called to help ambulance paramedics at 3.50pm this afternoon when the woman hurt her leg on steep ground below Craggy Wood above the village on the southern edge of the Lake District national park.

John Fitch, of the rescue team, said the woman slipped on frozen turf, adding: “Great weather in the hills at the moment but it’s very slippery in places.”
