Police said they are ‘really anxious’ for the safety of a hillwalker who has not been seen since he was reported missing on Monday.
Clive Dennier of Inverness failed to arrive at work in Grant own on Spey where he is a journalist on the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald.
Northern Constabulary said it had received numerous calls from members of the public about the missing 50-year-old, who is a keen walker.
But neither he nor his car have been found, despite an extensive police investigation.
Chief Inspector Graeme Murdoch, Inverness Area Commander said: “We are really anxious for Clive’s safety.
“Everything we know tells us that his disappearance is unexplained and totally out of character. Officers around the Highlands are actively involved in the search for Clive and we now have an enquiry team dedicated to the investigation.
“We are extremely grateful for the ongoing assistance and interest, both from the public and from Clive’s colleagues in the media. Finding Clive’s car would be a real breakthrough and we would ask everyone out there to help us by looking out for it.”
Police released an image of Mr Dennier’s car, a silver Volkswagen Polo, which is missing its wheel trims. The registration number of the car, which has still not been located, is SY54 CXD.
Northern Constabulary said: “Any person with information, however insignificant it may seem, should contact the police by calling 101.”
