Naked Rambler Stephen Gough has been jailed for 11 months for defying the latest judicial attempts to get him to cover up.

The former Royal Marine, of Eastleigh, Hampshire, was sentenced after a jury found him guilty of breaching an anti-social behaviour order.

Gough did not appear at Southampton Crown Court because he refused an order to put on clothes for his hearing.

He had denied the breach but was found guilty of breaking the terms of the Asbo, which ordered him to cover his genitals and buttocks while in public.

He had been arrested outside Southampton Magistrates Court when he emerged from the building naked except for boots and socks, after being handed the order.

Gough, who twice walked naked from Land’s End to John O’Groats, has spent years in Scottish jails after refusing to put on clothes in public.

He was also fined £1,800 in May at Southampton Magistrates for causing distress to members of the public by walking unclothed near a school, on public footpaths in the country, in the city centre and in the magistrates court at Basingstoke.
