The woman was descending Red Pike when she injured herself

A walker with an injured leg was stretchered from a Lake District fell in a rescue involving two volunteer teams and lasting almost six hours.

The woman was coming down Red Pike towards Dore Head above Mosedale yesterday when she slipped and injured herself.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 2.30pm and requested help from the Duddon and Furness team.

She was given pain relief and her leg was splinted before she was stretchered from the fell down to the car park at Overbeck Bridge.

The rescue involved 16 members of the Wasdale team.
