The walkers got lost on the Old Man of Coniston

Two walkers were rescued after getting lost on a Lake District fell in thick mist and rain.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 3pm today when the couple called for help after getting disoriented on The Old Man of Coniston.

A team spokesperson said: “After a brief search the man and woman were both found uninjured, but in difficult terrain in Gill Cove above Levers Water.

“They were assisted onto safer ground by team members who then accompanied them off the hill.”
