A walker was rescued after getting stuck on a Lake District hillside.

The 57-year-old, from London, was unable to continue after getting stranded on a ledge above Crummock Water yesterday.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 4.50pm and found the man and secured his position before he was lowered to safer ground.

Team members then walked back with him to Highpark from where he was driven back to Buttermere village.

The Cockermouth team was called out earlier in the day to aid a walker from Whistler, Canada, who suffered a knee injury near Black Sail youth hostel in Ennerdale.
