The Fjällräven Abisko Shape 2

A new tent from Scandinavian brand Fjällräven caught the eye of judges at a recent major European trade show.

The Abisko Shape 2 gained an OutDoor Industry Award at the Friedrichshafen gathering and is one of a range of new tents from the brand that will be hitting the shops next year.

The Abisko Shape 2’s innovative construction and carefully considered features proved a winning combination with this year’s judging panel.

The new tent collection incorporates 16 new models and is the result of a comprehensive development programme at Fjällräven. Every tent in the collection combines the brand’s new strong and lightweight, TripleRip fabric with advanced designs and practical features.

The OutDoor Industry Award is one of the leading international design awards for companies in the outdoor industry. The winners are selected by a panel of independent expert judges and announced at the OutDoor trade fair in Germany.

The Abisko Shape 2 is a lightweight tunnel tent with an innovative design that offers outstanding comfort, storage and stability.

Fjällräven said: “It is an incredibly flexible tent with exceptional ventilation options, including a new, smart roll-up feature that allows the flysheet to be rolled up at both ends. This new design offers excellent airflow through the tent while still protecting any equipment from sudden rain showers.

“Packed full of carefully considered features, the Abisko Shape 2 is constructed from Fjällräven’s new, high-performance TripleRip nylon fabric and has an innovative hybrid flysheet that combines fabrics of different deniers.

“The more exposed sections of the tent’s fly are reinforced with a stronger version of the TripleRip fabric, while less exposed sections have a lighter fabric. The result is an optimised balance of low weight with high functionality and comfort.”

Every model in the collection is 100 per cent free from PVC plastics, harmful DWRs and toxic flame-retardants.

The new tent range is due in UK shops in March 2016.
