Volunteer rescuers from teams across the Lake District have been involved in the search for a woman who went missing on a Cumbrian hill.

Yvonne Mullen left home to walk her Staffordshire bull terrier on Crosby Ravensworth Fell yesterday.

The 78-year-old has not been seen since 1pm on Thursday.

Penrith Mountain Rescue Team was alerted and its members were joined by fellow rescuers from across the district in the search for the missing woman.

Cumbria Constabulary said Ms Mullen is white, 5ft 5ins (1.65m) tall, with long grey hair. She was wearing glasses and a blue anorak, blue jeans and boots.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumbria police on 101.
