There’s more evidence of the remarkable nature of this winter with a posting by grough reader Roger Wild.
Roger contacted grough to point us in the direction of a video he made of a ski tour of the highest eight tops in the Cairngorms. Snow conditions were at their best for a long time, enabling ski-touring routes that haven’t been possible for years.
The route takes in Ben Avon, Beinn a’ Bhuirdh, Beinn Mheadhoin, Ben Macdui, Cairn Toul, Sgor an Lochain Uaine, Braeriach and Cairn Gorm.
Roger says: “As you know, the snow cover in Scotland is the best for many years and I think people will be interested to see what the conditions are like in the Cairngorms.
“The eight-tops route doesn’t get skied very often; in fact I’m not aware of it ever being done before.”
The four-minute video features footage taken by photographer and videographer Roger and can also be seen on his blog.
