Simone Moro, Denis Urubko and Cory Richards will recount the story of their ascent of the 8,035m peak

Three top mountaineers will give an account of their pioneering first winter ascent of an 8,000m peak.

The North Face sponsored trio, Simone Moro, Denis Urubko and Cory Richards, will recount the story of their ascent of the 8,035m (26,362ft) Pakistan peak, Gasherbrum II in London later this year.

The climbers endured extreme conditions including temperatures of –46C, blizzards and fierce winds. The North Face said the men will recount the highs of achieving the first winter ascent – to the lows of surviving an enormous avalanche on the precarious descent back to base camp.

The presentation includes an exclusive film edit and unique photo gallery all digitally shot by Cory Richards from the expedition.

Free tickets for the 17 November event are available for a limited time via The North Face website.

The UK leg of the trio’s European presentation tour is includes a single date at the Royal Institution in London, 10 minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Circus.

Presentations will also take place in Turin, Barcelona, Moscow and Munich.

Moro, from Italy, Urubko of Kazakhstan and American Richards climbed the mountain, also known as K4, earlier this year. The peak lies in the Gilgit Baltistan province of Pakistan, near the Chinese border. It is the 13th highest mountain in the world and the third highest peak of the Gasherbrum massif in the Himalayan Karakoram range.
