The search for an injured walker on the Isle of Skye was suspended overnight as weather worsened.

Police received reports from a member of the public that the 60-year-old had been seen falling on the Cuillin range on Thursday.

Mountain rescuers were joined in a search that went into the early hours by an RAF Sea King helicopter and members of the Search and Rescue Dogs Association.

The search resumed yesterday and members of the Kintail Mountain Rescue Team joined colleagues from the Skye MRT.

A Northern Constabulary spokesperson said: “Despite extensive searches of the area the male has not been traced, and the search was forced to be suspended due to poor weather conditions.”

The spokesperson said the search was due to resume at first light this morning.
