Police searching for a man missing on the West Highland Way have found a body.

Adrian Park was reported missing on 28 February, sparking a massive hunt involving the Ochils Lomond Mountain Rescue Teams, members of the Search and Rescue Dogs Association, a Royal Navy search and rescue helicopter and police search teams with dogs. The body was found on Saturday afternoon near Balaggan House in Strathblane.

A spokesperson for Central Scotland Police said: “The details of the deceased cannot be confirmed until the formal identification process has been completed.

“Mr Park’s family have been kept informed.”

The site where the body was found is less than 2km (1¼ miles) from Mr Park’s Blanefield home.

Posters were distributed by police to bothies and hostels along the West Highland Way, which starts in Milngavie, where Mr Park was last seen alive. He was described by police as an outdoors enthusiast.
