The Old Man of Coniston; the walker was rescued from Boulder Valley

A walker was rescued from a Lakeland fell suffering from hypothermia.

The man collapsed while walking in Boulder Valley below the Old Man of Coniston on Wednesday afternoon. 12 members of the Coniston Mountain Rescue Team went to help the walker, a foreign visitor, whom the team described as having collapsed with symptoms of mild hypothermia.

Jeff Carroll of Coniston MRT said: “The team treated the casualty for hypothermia. He was then evacuated for transfer to hospital by Cumbria Ambulance Service.”
