Organisers of a downhill mountain biking event have released a video to give a flavour of the challenge facing riders.

The iXS European Downhill Cup will take place at Innerleithen later this month, with competitors tackling the course on trails through Traquair Forest in the Scottish Borders.

The event will form round three of the European cup and starts the day after the Olympic Torch Relay is due in Innerleithen.

The film was produced by mountain-bike filmmaker Calum Darling and features local riders, including Malcolm Porter and Moray Cuthill, on trails which will form part of the course.

The event kicks off with a film night at the town’s rugby club on 14 June, with race practice the following day and riders taking part in qualifying and races on the Saturday and Sunday.

More details are on the event’s website.
