A walker was rescued in a night-time operation in the Lake District after she fell and broke her leg.

Kendal Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Friday about 8.35pm after the incident on Gummer’s How, overlooking the southern reaches of Windermere.

A team spokesperson said: “Pain relief was administered and we splinted her leg before carrying her down to an ambulance.”

The rescue ended at midnight.
