A walker suffered a suspected broken ankle when she slipped on a Lake District fell.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 11.45am on Sunday to aid the 52-year-old Suffolk woman.

She slipped while descending the fell just above the village of Buttermere, injuring herself.

The team treated her at the scene before stretchering her from the fell hill and handing her over to an ambulance crew at Buttermere.

The 1½-hour rescue involved 24 volunteers from Cockermouth MRT.
