Torsten Kulke was reported missing on the Isle of Lewis

Police searching for a missing man on a Hebridean island said a body has been found.

German visitor Torsten Kulke was reported missing on Monday 31 July.

The 48-year-old had last been seen near Àird Uig on the Isle of Lewis about 6pm the previous Friday.

Police Scotland said a member of the public made the find on Saturday at Tràigh na Clibhe near Bhaltos about 3.25pm. Police were joined by members of the Coastguard in recovering the body from the beach in the West of the island.

A police spokesperson said: “Formal identification is yet to take place, however the family of missing Torsten Kulke have been informed.

“There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
