A walker was stretchered from a Lake District fell after injuring her leg.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, which went to the woman’s aid, said she slipped and rolled down the hill while descending Gowbarrow Fell towards Aira Force with her family.

The team was alerted at 3pm on Saturday and 15 of its volunteers made their way to the site.

A team spokesperson said: “The casualty was treated by the team doctor and the leg injury was stabilised.

“She was then evacuated by stretcher down to the car park where she was transferred to a land ambulance for onward travel to hospital.”

The rescue lasted three hours.

The following day, Patterdale MRT received a call from two young men who were lost on Cofa Pike in bad weather.

The spokesperson said: “The team leader made contact by phone and with the help of PhoneFind technology was able to talk them down the mountain towards civilisation.”

The operation lasted an hour.
