Yorkshire Water has produced a set of free podcasts to guide walkers round its Swinsty Reservoir in North Yorkshire.

Six mp3 files can be downloaded from its website to be put on your player and used at various points on the three-mile stroll. A PDF walk pack is also available.

The whole walk is on surfaced paths and is suitable for what Yorkshire Water calls ‘infirm users’. The podcasts include information on the reservoir and its wildlife and history, as well as route instructions.

The company’s website lists 35 walks, graded from one boot to five boots, depending on strenuousness and technicality. Yorkshire Water has also produced a guide to its first cycleway, round Fewston Reservoir, the next stretch of water up the valley from Swinsty. Both reservoirs are on land west of Harrogate. 14 of its reservoirs are also used by watersports clubs.

Details of the walks are on the company’s website.
