Police say a Ramblers’ Association vice-president arrested after she was accused of racially abusing a woman will face no charges.

Janet Street-Porter was arrested last month after attending a north London police station. She was questioned by officers in connection with a racially aggravated public order offence.

At the time, the writer and broadcaster said she would be fully vindicated in due course. She was bailed by police after her arrest. Ms Street-Porter was president of the Ramblers’ Association from 1994 to 1997.
