The men, from Lancashire, were attempting a route on Observatory Gully when they became stuck. They were rescued after shouting for help.

David Ashworth, 25, Mathew Wilson, 18, and Paul Jackson, 24, were airlifted unhurt from the mountain yesterday evening.

In a separate incident earlier in the day, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, went to the aid of a 75-year-old man who had collapsed while descending the Ben. He was taken by helicopter to Belford Hospital, Fort William.
