The search for a walker missing in the Cairngorms continued into its third day today with more than 30 mountain rescuers being joined by six Search and Rescue Dogs Association members and a police search dog.

An RAF helicopter is also taking part in the hunt for 48-year-old Robin Davies, who went missing after setting out for a walk on Saturday. A spokesperson for Northern Constabulary said conditions were generally reasonable, but there was a low cloud base on the hills.

Mr Davies, of the Milton of Leyes area of Inverness, is believed to be with his dog Tilly, a black-and-tan Yorkshire terrier.

He has not been seen since going out for a walk in the late morning or early afternoon of Saturday 21 February in the Glenfeshie area near Kingussie.

The police spokesperson said: “Extensive searches of the Cairngorm area have been taking place over the past few days, but there has been no sign of Mr Davies or his dog.

“Today’s search resumed at 8am and involves 14 members of Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, 17 RAF mountain rescuers, six Sarda dogs, 1 police search dog and the Rescue 137 helicopter from RAF Kinloss.”

Mr Davies is believed to be wearing either a dark or possibly a camouflage-style jacket. His dog is thought to have a red collar and lead.

The search is concentrated on the Glenfeshie and Carn Bàn Mòr areas.

Any walkers who have seen Mr Davies, or anyone with knowledge of the route he intended to take are asked to contact Aviemore police station on 01479 810222 or their local police station.
