A Scottish ski resort has been put up for sale, in the hope investors will help it expand.

Glencoe Mountain, in the White Corries on the slopes of Meall a’ Bhùiridh at the head of the famed glen, wants to turn the centre into a year-round outdoor adventure centre as well as an attraction for snowsports. Ideas include a gondola similar to the one on Aonach Mòr 24km (15 miles) to the north.

A statement by the company said: “Serious investors, investment proposals and prospective purchasers are sought to take the resort forward. The ski industry is currently undergoing a renaissance as people stay at home rather than travel abroad. Glencoe is famous the world over and keen international interest is expected in this sale.”

Deadline for would-be buyers is 31 March.

A management buy-out of the resort was staged in 2007, the original company having gone into receivership in 2004.

Present owners David Campbell and Neil Tait say the resort is in the black, with this winter’s weather providing a boost to numbers.

However, the White Corries site, formerly owned by the Glenshee Chairlift Company, has suffered in comparison to its Aonach Mòr neighbour Nevis Resort with its gondola cable car and CairnGorm Mountain, which has a funicular.

Glencoe is Scotland’s oldest ski resort, the first ski-lift having opened in 1959.
