Tryfan

An inquest was opened and adjourned this week on the man whose body was found on Tryfan.

Roman James Deans, of Bretton, near Broughton, Flintshire, was found by members of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation after he was reported missing by friends who found his car near the 915m (3,002ft) mountain in Snowdonia.

North Wales coroner Dewi Pritchard-Jones opened and adjourned the inquest to a date still to be decided.

Rescuers said they believed Mr Deans, a 24-year-old Canadian national living and working at the Broughton Airbus factory, fell 60m (200ft) from the mountain’s south ridge. His body was found on Thursday, 2 April, and airlifted by RAF Sea King helicopter to the Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

It is believed his body may have been on the mountain for four days before mountain rescuers were alerted. A post-mortem examination has been carried out on Mr Deans’s body.
