A climber was airlifted to hospital after a fall in a Snowdonia quarry yesterday.

The woman was climbing in Vivien Quarry, Llanberis, when the accident happened. She is believed to have broken both wrists when her protection failed during the climb in the former slate quarry. She fell about 8m (25ft).

Members of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team went to the aid of the woman, from Manchester, and stabilised her before a Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley flew her to Ysbyty Gwynedd, in Bangor.
