The National Trust for Scotland has joined other groups in urging people to pull on their boots and hit the hills.

The conservation charity has set up a section on its website to encourage walkers to use its estates which include some of Scotland’s most spectacular terrain. The trust also has podcasts on the site, and will introduce a ‘walk of the month’.

The National Trust for Scotland cares for some of the country’s best loved routes, including land in Glencoe, Torridon and Kintail. It also looks after 634km (394 miles) of mountain footpaths.

Many of the walks detailed on the site are low level and not strenuous, but there are a couple of more arduous routes, including Glencoe.

Marketing manager Clare Willis said: “The Trust is privileged to look after a diverse range of terrain – with walks for peoples of all levels and abilities. Whether you are a keen mountaineer, looking for action and adventure or a countryside ramble is your cup of tea, we want to encourage people to get out and enjoy some of the wonderful landscape that we protect and preserve for the nation.”

The information can be found on the National Trust for Scotland’s walking section of its website.
