An RAF Sea King helicopter helped recover the body of the walker

A man has died after a fall on a Lochaber mountain.

The body of the walker, in his 50s, was found by members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team on Aonach Beag at about 1pm on Tuesday. The man’s body was recovered with the help of a Sea King helicopter from RAF Kinloss.

As spokesperson for the Northern Constabulary said: “The male is believed to have fallen approximately 250m (820ft), whilst walking on Aonach Beag.

“A report on the circumstances will be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Fort William.”

No further details of the walker are being released at present.

Aonach Beag is the UK’s seventh highest peak, standing at 1,234m (4,049ft), 3km (2 miles) east of Ben Nevis.
