Climbers are being warned about a rockfall on a Highland route.

The Mountaineering Council of Scotland issued the warning about a significant amount of rock falling on the Etive Slabs on Beinn Trilleachan in Glen Etive.

Climbers should take care on the first pitch of the Spartan Slab-Long Reach route after part of the structure collapsed where the first belay would be. A large quantity of stone crashed on to the Coffin Stone below.

The MCofS said it was possible some parts of the Long Reach may have been damaged and that scarring of the slabs has occurred.

No-one was hurt in the rockfall, which happened when climbers were above the site of the dislodged rock, but grades may be affected, though a entry on the UKClimbing logbooks says that the rocks in question were from the descent path and that the rock on the main face of the slabs remains in excellent condition.
