A search and rescue team has put out its own plea for help after being told it has to move its stores.

Warrington-based Cheshire Search and Rescue Team has been given seven days’ notice to quit its storage facility after a change of ownership of the premises.

The team, a member of the Association of Lowland Search and Rescue, urgently needs a new venue to store its gear.

Joanne McClure, chair of Cheshire Search and Rescue Team, said: “Today is a very sad day for the team. Storage facilities are vital to the running of the team as we offer a wide range of services to the local emergency services and consequently have lots of equipment. This is devastating news for us and we are now seeking help from as many people as possible in our hunt for new storage.”

“We are grateful to Cheshire Police for the help they are currently giving by looking to see if they have any spare storage but if anyone can offer us a unit that would be fantastic.”

The team, which was formed in 2004, has 40 members who go attend callouts, along with eight support members. It helps Cheshire Police and other emergency services in missing person searches or in major incident support. The team is entirely voluntary and receives no payment for its services.

It numbers among its volunteers health-care professionals, office workers, shop staff, university graduates and retired people.

Anyone who can help with alternative storage can leave a comment below and grough will pass on the message to the team.
