Paintings by a mountain artist will be on show from this weekend as part of the Kendal Mountain Festival.

Jamie Hageman’s pictures are in the photo-realist style and feature mountain scenes of Scotland.

The 31-year-old Fort William-based artist, originally from Lincolnshire, moved to Scotland to be closer to the mountains and glens he visited as a child.

He says he spends long periods searching for new and unusual viewpoints of his subjects, often in winter.

The show, at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, will be his first in Cumbria and will run from Saturday 30 October until 21 November.

Highlights of his exhibition include a tranquil coastal scene on the Isle of Skye with the snowy Cuillin mountains overhead, and the north-east Face of Ben Nevis, detailed with ridges and frozen gullies.

Mr Hageman said: “I am often awestruck in the mountains, and would like the viewer to feel the same emotions when faced with my work.”

The self-taught artist has his work in private collections throughout the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Admission to the exhibition, in the Sugar Store Gallery of the arts centre, is free.
