Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team carried the man from Dodd Fell

A walker was stretchered from a Lakeland fell after slipping and injuring himself.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by police at 3.45pm this afternoon when the55-year-old from Carnforth, Lancashire, suffered a suspected broken ankle after slipping on damp ground on Middle Dodd, the 645m (2,146ft) outlier of the Red Screes range.

A spokesperson for the team said: “The man was treated for the injury, splinted and carried by stretcher down to a waiting county ambulance and on to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle for further treatment.”
