Rescuers have found a man’s body after a major overnight search in the Highlands.

Police were alerted at 9.40pm yesterday by the family of the 69-year-old from Dundee after he failed to return from a trip to the Corrie Fee area of Glen Doll in Angus.

A Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth joined the search by Tayside Mountain Rescue Team and Tayside Police and a body was found in a gully at 3.30 this morning. It is believed the man may have been caught in an avalanche.

Police said the walker was very experienced and well equipped for the winter conditions.

The body has not yet been formally identified; a report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.
