Louise Ramsay: 'Transformed the OIA'

The chief executive of an outdoors trade group has stepped down from her post to take on a communication role with the body.

Louise Ramsay has headed the Outdoor Industries Association for the last two years.

From September, the association will be run by a part-time chief executive and a part-time communications director, who will continue to be supported by the current membership and administration manager.

Ms Ramsay, a keen ski-tourer and enthusiastic hillwalker, will move to the communication director post.

OIA chair Corry Taylor said: “As chief executive, Louise Ramsay has been instrumental in transforming the OIA into a dynamic and ever more effective trade association.

“The board is very grateful for everything that Louise has achieved, which has inevitably led to this restructure.  Dividing the roles and responsibilities will allow the association to maintain, and indeed accelerate, the progress that is already being made.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with Louise as she spearheads communications and am confident that we will be presented with some excellent candidates for the vacant chief executive role.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual.”

The OIA is inviting applications from suitable candidates. More information about the role of chief executive and a job description can be obtained from Louise Ramsay on 0131 333 4414 or by emailing her. The application closing date is 30 June 2011.

The association membership includes manufacturers such as Berghaus, Helly Hansen, Haglöfs and Hi-Tec; retailers Cotswold, Snow + Rock, representative body the British Mountaineering Council and many other organisations in the outdoor world. grough is a member of the OIA.
