Norber, scene of the accident

A walker was rescued after injuring herself in a fall from a stile.

The 73-year-old woman slipped while crossing the stile in a drystone wall on Norber in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday.

Members of the Cave Rescue Organisation were alerted about 3.55pm and went to the woman’s aid after she hit her head and knee on rocks.

The woman was brought off the hill in one of the team’s vehicles and transferred to a road ambulance on Crummack Lane, near Austwick.

The CRO carries out rescues in the Yorkshire Dales both in the caves and on the fells of the area.
