A climbing hut under Ben Nevis’s north face will reopen tomorrow after repairs to the building needed when recent hurricane-force winds blew off part of the roof.

The Charles Inglis Clark memorial hut, known to mountaineers as the CIC hut, will be fully open again following work by volunteers to put the shelter back in order.

Mountain Guide Alan Kimber blogged the message from custodian that, following work by Neil McGougan, John Orr and other volunteers, the popular hut is back in action as the peak winter climbing season on the mountain arrives.

The building is owned by the Scottish Mountaineering Club.

There was also a plea from Mr Kimber for anyone who finds a pair of ice axes on The Cascade route to get in touch with him as they belong to the climber who was airlifted to hospital after falling yesterday.

The Mountain Guide also asks anyone who finds the gear to make a note of whereabouts they found the axes.

Anyone who can help can contact him by email.
